DR ALEXANDRIA PHILLIPS
Clinical Psychologist
Pronouns: She/Her
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space to promote therapeutic change and enhance the overall psychological well-being of individuals. I understand that life can be full of suffering and humans are capable of experiencing a vast array of painful emotions that can impact their ability to live a meaningful life. I am committed to empowering individuals to address life’s challenges in a holistic manner. I work collaboratively with individuals to make sense of current experiences within the wider context of their life, taking into consideration biological, psychological and social factors through comprehensive assessment. This shared conceptual understanding forms the basis of clear, evidence-based treatment plans with tailored meaningful and actionable goals to improve difficulties and live a valued life.
I have had the privilege of working across a range of NHS specialist mental and physical health treatment services, third-sector bereavement services, and I currently serve as the lead clinical psychologist for a specialist weight management service. Over the past seven years, these experiences have deepened my expertise in supporting individuals with complex emotional dysregulation, as well as common mental health difficulties such as mood disorders and anxiety. My experience within a specialist neurodevelopmental service has equipped me to identify neurodivergence, facilitating appropriate referrals for formal assessments and implementing therapeutic adjustments to enhance engagement and support.

I hold a Master’s qualification and have completed doctoral-level training as a Clinical Psychologist. My therapeutic approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing on a range of modalities including Trauma-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness. I am guided by the core principles of integrity, safety, and authenticity to establish strong, trusting therapeutic relationships—foundational elements for meaningful change.

I am deeply committed to integrating the latest research into my clinical practice to ensure clients receive the most effective support. For example, I incorporate insights from polyvagal theory to help individuals better understand their autonomic nervous system responses, enhancing their ability to regulate emotions and navigate challenges in an ever-changing world.
